Hydration is always something that I have to think about prior to departing for a hike. I have tried packing a plastic water bottle but found that I loose them too easily. Currently I have purchased an $20 hydration pack but it gets that plastic taste in it sometimes. I will blog about a hydration pack soon and upload another goofy video about how it works.
On a longer hike I like to use the hydration pack so to get the plastic taste out of it I rinse the bladder with a vinegar and water mix. If I have adequate water supply at various intervals on a hike and a purifying method then I like to use my Klean Kanteen. It is a stainless steel water bottle that holds 800 ml. It does not hold a lot but that is good as it keeps my pack lite. The nice thing about the Klean kanteen is that it always keeps the water fresh tasting and I do not have to be concerned about drinking plastic chemicals that will kill me before a cougar does. :-)
